An AI engineer who works inside your business.
Your tools don't talk to each other, and nobody on the team has time to make them. A forward deployed engineer sits with your people, maps how the work really moves, builds AI into the software you already pay for and trains your team to run it.

Tools that work as one, and a team that runs them without chasing.
What is a forward deployed AI engineer?
A forward deployed AI engineer is an engineer who works inside one business, learns how its work really moves, builds AI into the software it already uses and trains its people to run it. Big software and AI companies made the role famous by placing engineers inside their largest customers. FlowChainLabs brings the same model to small and mid-size businesses that have no AI team of their own: one engineer, with our team behind them, on-site across Dallas-Fort Worth and virtual across the United States.

- Where the work lives
- In your own accounts, next to the software you already pay for.

How is a forward deployed engineer different from an AI consultant or an AI agency?
A consultant tells you where AI fits and an agency builds what you ask for. A forward deployed engineer does both from inside your business, then trains your team and stays to improve it.
| Question | AI consultant | AI agency | Forward deployed engineer |
|---|---|---|---|
| What you get | A plan and a recommendation. | A build to the spec you hand over. | The map, the build, the training and the follow-up. |
| Where they work | In meetings with leadership. | Mostly from their own office. | Inside your business, next to the people doing the work. |
| Where the build lives | Nothing gets built. | Often in the agency's own accounts. | In your accounts, written down so your team can run it. |
| After launch | The work ends with the plan. | Changes become new tickets. | Checks the numbers and picks the next process. |
| Choose it when | You want a second opinion on direction. | You know exactly what to build and how it should work. | You want AI working in the business and your team running it. |
Why do small and mid-size businesses need a forward deployed engineer?
Because everyone can buy the same AI now. What decides the result is how it gets fitted to the way your business really runs, and a company your size rarely has someone whose whole job is that.
- Tools that don't talk to each other, so the same order, request or report gets typed twice.
- AI licenses bought and barely used.
- One person who knows where everything is, and everyone waiting on them.
- Reports built by hand from exports, after the decision was due.
- A pilot that worked once, then nobody kept it running.
What does a forward deployed engineer do in week 1, week 4 and week 12?
They start with how the work really runs, not how the manual says it runs. The pace depends on your systems and your team's time. The order stays the same.
- Week 1: sits with the people who do the work, maps one process from start to finish, marks where it waits and takes the starting numbers.
- Week 4: builds the first change into the software you already own, with a person approving anything that carries risk, and trains the people who use it at their desks.
- Week 12: checks the numbers against the start, fixes what is not working, writes down how it runs and picks the next process from the map.
What does the engineer work on first?
The process that costs you the most time or money and passes through the most hands. These are common first projects.
- Orders and requests that arrive by email and get typed into another system.
- Quotes and proposals that wait on one person.
- Weekly reports pulled together by hand from several systems.
- Customer questions answered from scattered notes and old emails.
- New customers or new hires set up by hand in every tool.
Who owns the work when the engineer steps back?
You do. Everything is built in your own accounts, next to the software you already use, and written down so your team can run it.
- Built in your accounts, never ours.
- A record of every action the AI takes.
- A person on your team approves anything that changes money, customers or commitments.
- Your people trained on their own work, not on a demo.

Questions before
the next step.
Is a forward deployed engineer a full-time employee?
No. The engineer is part of the FlowChainLabs team and works inside your business on a rhythm you agree, with more time at the start and less once the work is running. You get the engineer and the team behind them without adding a hire.
Do we need an IT department or an AI team?
No. The engineer works with whoever runs your systems today, even when that is the owner and an office manager. An IT lead, where you have one, stays in charge of systems and security.
Will it work with the software we already pay for?
Yes. That is the point. We build on the systems you already own and replace one only when that system is the problem.
What does it mean to run AI native?
Your tools are connected, your people understand how AI works inside the company, and agents run the steps that do not need a person, with the owner approving. A forward deployed engineer is how a small or mid-size business gets there without hiring an AI team.
Will AI replace our people?
That is not the goal. The goal is to take the retyping, chasing and searching off your team so they spend their time on customers and decisions. A person stays in charge of anything that carries risk.
How much does a forward deployed engineer cost?
It follows the size of the work: how many processes, which systems and how much support you want after launch. You get a clear proposal after a free strategy call, before anything starts.
